From Blenda Runebjörk:

“I commenced my search for a placement in the fall prior by reaching out to personal contacts including family and friends, their contacts and people I had networked with. It seemed like I had plenty of options and would be set for the summer but I kept my eye out as no prospective employer had given me an official offer. I spent the spring working part time for one of the prospective placements, again keeping my eye out for other opportunities. As it turned out my contacts were unable to meet my placement requirements, either due to a lack of funds available for a reasonable pay, or due to a lack of work to fill the hours required. I ended up finding a placement through the Blackboard job ads sent by the placement adviser which not only met my requirements and personal objectives by went beyond my expectations. I had an amazing learning experience and ended up with a mentor I still keep in contact with. What I learned from the job search experience is that you can never take anything for granted and until you have something in writing you need to keep looking for other opportunities.”
